For safety and control while travelling downhill there is the Hill Descent Assist feature, which minimises the risk of skidding or unwanted acceleration as you descend. It works both, in forward and reverse gears as well as in neutral.

Hill Descent Assist holds your vehicle at a low, controllable speed on steep slopes. You can activate it from a button on the centre console and it works in both forward and reverse gears as well as neutral.
Designed to prevent unwanted movement when you release the brake pedal on slopes, Hill Start Assist works on gradients over 3%. It holds the vehicle for about 2 seconds, giving you time to move calmly from brake to accelerator pedal.
Engage the reverse gear and the camera displays a 180°rear view on your 8” touchscreen. Additional coloured lines on the display make the position of obstacles clearer.
You can now lock and unlock your car without taking out your key. The New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV also recognises you as you approach the vehicle.
